10 Things I Learned This Spring
š§ Listen to the full episode of the Lovely Home Podcast here
Hello and welcome back to the Lovely Home Blog! Iām Evelyn, and today Iām excited to talk about 10 things Iāve learned over the last season. Can you believe summer is already here? I usually publish these quarterly episodes at seasonās endāso why does it feel like I missed the memo this time? Honestly, I wasnāt sure when spring turned into summer!
So yes, this wonāt be one of my longest postsāalthough it might sneak up on me, as these things do. Iām also linking two of the ideas below, so you can check them out if they pique your interest. Grab your favorite drink and letās dive into the seasonās discoveries!
š± 1. Reflecting on the SeasonsāLiterally & Spiritually
Did you know our bodiesāand even the plants around usārespond to the change of seasons? Eating strawberries in spring feels different from eating them in winter. In the Hebrew calendar, spring marks the beginning of the year. I found reflecting on the past few months like reviewing quarter one of the yearācelebrating growth, joy, and areas for reflection. Try it! Itās been eye-opening.
2. A Game-Changing Laundry Hamper
I might be obsessed with this, but this hamper transformed my laundry routine. It features three snap-in bags with handlesāand a lid! The lid helps hide the clutter, and the divided bags make sorting easy. Iāve found myself doing smaller loads more regularly, which feels so much better. If you want a prettier laundry experience, check the link in the show notes of the podcast episode or click HERE!
3. The āReturn to Restā Journal
From Grace Laced Co., this evening reflection journal has helped me close the day with peace. The prompts are simple: highlight the good, the lessons learned, and where you saw God. Itās quick, beautiful, and meaningfulāperfect for winding down without feeling overwhelmed. Click HERE to check it out!
4. āDeeper: Real Change for Real Sinnersā by Dane Ortlund
This hearty, gospel-rich read dives into genuine sanctification. It reminds us that spiritual growth isnāt about checklist righteousness, but deeper trust in the grace that first embraced us. Full of thoughtful insight and scriptural clarity, itās been perfect for my spring quarter reading. Click HERE to check it out!
5. Flowers, Flowers & More Flowers
Working part-time with a florist has been a true joy. Helping create beautiful wedding arrangements has given me a new appreciation for floristsāthey do so much! Plus, I get to bring flowers home and design mini bouquets, which has filled my home and heart this season.
6. Training Ember the Puppy š¾
The past few months have been a wonderful puppy-training journey with Ember. Sheās learned sit, stay, nearly-shakeāand sheās unbelievably smart. Training her has been sweet and silly (she chewed my curling iron), but her progress has been so rewarding.
7. My Favorite Brown-Sugar Cinnamon Espresso Recipe
Iāve tweaked a cold espresso drink that feels like a DIY Starbucks treatābrown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, ice, espresso, and a splash of halfāandāhalf. Shake it up and youāve got a delicious, cozy pick-me-up. Itās been my spring staple.
8. Using Amazon Lists Instead of āAdd to Cartā
To stop impulse splurges, I created themed wish listsāhome upgrades, future library books, style inspiration, etc. Now, when I want something, I save it instead of buying it right away. Itās helped me curb spending and stay organizedāplus perfect for gift ideas.
9. Learning the Art of Surrendering
This season has been about letting goāof busyness, control, and perfectionāand laying everything at the feet of Jesus. Whether in business, marriage, or everyday tasks, Iām learning that opening my hands and trusting Godās plan brings true freedom and rest.
10. The Nightstand Drawer Oasis
I organized my nightstand drawer into a little self-care hub: vitamins, jewelry dish, reflection journal, remote trayāeverything in easy reach for nighttime routine. Even if the rest of the house is chaotic, that drawer brings me peace each night.
š Would You Rather?
Would you rather never use a planner again (only sticky notes), or brush and floss after every single thing you eat? Tough callālosing my planner would be tough, but I might just go for the floss. What about you? DM your answer or send it over to shopallthingslovelyco@gmail.com. And if you have a would-you-rather question for me, send that in tooāI love featuring listener questions!
Final Thoughts
Thanks for joining me on this spring reflection! I mightāve rambled a little longer than planned, but each of these discoveries brought me joy, growth, and peace. Summer is just around the corner, and I canāt wait to share more with you next Monday. Rememberāyou are lovely, and so is your home.
See you soon! š
