5 Grace-Filled Ways to Create More Time with Your Savior

Welcome, lovely friend!
Today on the Lovely Home Podcast, we sat down for a heart-to-heart on a topic that’s near and dear: how we can create more time to spend with Jesus without the guilt, shame, or overwhelm.

Life is busy. Sticky countertops, busy schedules, messy living rooms — they’re all part of it. But so is our Savior, ready to meet us right where we are. Not with a checklist. Not with guilt. Just with open arms.

So grab your favorite sip, a cozy notebook, and let's chat through five grace-filled tips for spending more meaningful time with Jesus — even in the busiest seasons.

A Little Real Life Update

Before we dive into the tips, let me just say: if you hear it in my voice, yes — your girl has been sick. Again.
From February through April, my husband and I were like a sick tag team, alternating weekends down for the count. It’s been frustrating, but it’s also been a reminder: we’re human, and we’re desperately in need of God’s grace.

If you're walking through a hard season too, maybe this post will feel like a soft place to land.

Five Grace-Filled Tips for Spending More Time with Jesus

1. There’s No "Right" Way to Spend Time with Jesus

Let’s be honest: it’s so easy to scroll social media and suddenly feel like our "quiet time" should look like a Pinterest board—color-coded, candle-lit, and full of perfectly highlighted Bible verses.

But here’s the truth:
Jesus doesn’t require fancy tools. He simply desires your heart.

If all you have is a Bible and prayer, that's enough.
Yes, devotionals, study guides, and worship playlists are wonderful — but they’re not what makes your time with Him valuable. Your Savior is simply after time with you.

Whether it's with a physical Bible or an app on your phone, prayer whispered while washing dishes or prayers scribbled in a journal — it all counts.

2. Stop Believing It Has to Happen at a Certain Time of Day

If you’ve ever felt like you "missed" your morning devotion and thought, "Welp, guess I’ll try again tomorrow," you’re not alone.

Spending time with Jesus isn’t confined to 6 AM.
It’s not reserved for the "perfect morning routine."
You can meet Him in the quiet night hours.
In the car between errands.
In the 5-minute break between diaper changes and Zoom meetings.

He’s not stuck in a time slot.
He’s with you, around you, and ready to meet you any time you call.

3. Follow Grace, Not the Clock

Maybe you’re thinking, "I don’t have 30 minutes every day to sit quietly with my Bible."
Friend, that’s okay.

Five minutes with God is better than zero.

Your spiritual life isn’t measured by how long you read your Bible. It’s measured by how often you turn your heart toward Him.

Thread spiritual moments throughout your day:

  • Pray while folding laundry.

  • Meditate on a verse while cooking.

  • Listen to a sermon on your commute.

  • Talk about God with your kids during dinner.

Your whole day can become a lovely conversation with your Savior.

4. Take Your Feelings Out of It

Here’s a tough truth:
If you wait until you feel like spending time with Jesus, you might wait forever.

Feelings are real — but they’re not reliable.
Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us that "the heart is deceitful above all things."

Sometimes the hardest part is just starting.
Not because it’s burdensome — but because the devil knows how powerful God's Word is, and he will try to distract us from it however he can.

When you feel resistance, count down:
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 — open your Bible anyway.
Once you start, you’ll remember why it's so worth it.

5. Notice Your Senses

Want to make your Jesus time feel even more lovely?
Engage your senses.
God gave us five senses — taste, touch, smell, sight, and hearing — and we can glorify Him through each one!

Ask yourself: What makes me feel most connected to my Savior?

  • Playing worship music softly in the background? (Hearing)

  • Sitting outside in the sunshine with your Bible? (Touch/Sight)

  • Lighting a cozy candle during prayer time? (Smell)

  • Sipping your favorite coffee during devotional time? (Taste)

Use your senses to create an experience that feels peaceful, special, and worshipful — but remember: the specialness isn't what makes your time sacred. God's presence does.

A Peek into My Jesus Time Basket

Just for fun, here’s what’s currently in my Jesus time basket:

I don’t use all of these every day. Sometimes, it’s just me and my Bible — and that’s more than enough.

Remember This, Lovely Friend:

🌸 You are a spiritual infant needing daily spiritual milk.
🌸 God is your loving Father, always ready to feed your soul.
🌸 You don’t need perfection. You need His presence.

Wherever you are today — running errands, folding laundry, or simply resting — you are never too far from your Savior.

Would You Rather? (Fun!)

Today's Would You Rather comes from a sweet listener:
👉 Would you rather have someone come decorate your house for every season for free, or have unlimited funds to shop and decorate it yourself?

My answer?
Give me the free decorator, please! (And I’ll happily boss them around with my ideas. 😅)

What about you?

Thank you for spending this time with me, sweet friend.
You are lovely, your home is lovely, and most importantly, your Savior delights in you exactly where you are today.

Until next time — keep walking in grace. 💛
